Not in America, Through is a solo exhibition from Brazilian artist Leonardo Gabriel do Amaral. Through redesigned Brazilian flags based on American companies' logos, repackaged "Brazilian" clothing from mass retailers, and a public performance entirely in Portuguese, Amaral analyzes and satirizes the ways in which the United States of America continues to exert its influence and power over the rest of the world through commerce, exoticization, and surveillance. Each gesture is an invitation to look closer, to notice how power moves in silence.

INCUBATOR is a division of the department of Exhibitions and Exhibition Studies that give SAIC students from all degree programs to share their work across campus in non-traditional exhibition formats. These alternative spaces offer room to engage in exhibition-making from new and creative approaches.

Exhibition programs at SAIC are made possible through the generous support of BLICK Art Materials. SAIC also acknowledges support from the Illinois Arts Council.
